Our Daily Schedule
Lake Ann GSRP
Ms. Jess Class
9:00-9:30am Arrival/Breakfast/Morning Fun
Children will be dropped off by parents or by the busses at the preschool building. As students come in to the classroom, they place their folder on the sand table, sign in, and eat breakfast. When they are finished eating, they may go to Kidwriting to do literacy activity.
9:30-9:45 Morning Meeting
(Large group time/Music and Movement) All adults and children participate in large group time at the circle rug. This includes class jobs and daily announcement. During this time, skills will be developed in the areas of literacy, math, and gross motor and social development.
9:45-10:00am Small group time
This is an adult-initiated learning experience based on children’s interests and development. Children explore, play, work with materials and talk about what they are doing. Individual children explore and use the same set of materials on their own. During this time, skills are developed in fine motor, literacy, math, language and social-emotional development.
10:00a-10:10a Planning Time
Children indicate their plans for choice time to adults in a place where intimate conversations can occur and where people and materials are visible. Adults use a variety and range of strategies to support children in their planning (props, pictures, movement, microphones, singing, in pairs, small groups, etc)
10:10-11:25a Choice Time
(Children’s hour of uninterrupted higher level thinking play) During this time, Children always initiate activities and carry out their own intentions. Children make choices about where to play and how to use the materials. During choice time, adults participate as partners in child-initiated play and encourage children’s problem solving skills both with materials and during times of social conflict. During this time, skills are developed in areas of social-emotional development, math, literacy, gross motor, fine motor, and language. Play is where preschool children do the most learning.
11:25-11:35a Clean up time
Children and adults clean up together keeping the spirit of play and problem solving alive. Children make choices during clean up. Adults accept children’s level of involvement and skill while supporting their learning.
11:35-11:45a Recall Time
Gathered in small group settings, children choose to recall and reflect on the choices they made during choice time. Adults provide a variety of material to maintain interest as their follow children’s lead and encourage children to share.
11:45a-12:40a Outdoor time
(If it is too cold to go outside, times may change and we will walk to school gym) Children have many choices about how they play in the outdoor learning environment. Adults supervise children for safety and also join in their active outdoor play, supporting their initiatives and problem solving.
12:40-1:00p Technology Time/Bathroom/wash hands/prepare for lunch
We do whole class technology time where we use the projector and do activities such as "GoNoodle" or do research about our topic of study. Children learn to take turns in the bathroom and while washing hands. Children assist in preparation of the lunch tables. Children choose where they would like to sit and are encouraged to learn to serve themselves.
1:00-1:45p Lunch
Family style meals support children doing things for themselves (serve themselves, open milks, distribute napkins and silverware, and wipe up messes). Children choose what to eat and how much to eat. Adults eat with the children and encourage meaningful conversations with the children. Children are encouraged to clean up their own meal space. When finished cleaning up the area, the students will be asked to use the bathroom, pick out a book or rest time activity bad and sit on their cot with their blanket to quiet down for rest time.
1:45-2:45 Quiet/Rest time
Rest time is a time for sleeping or quiet, solitary, on-your-own cot activity. Rest time plans are individualized to meet the needs of each child. Quiet play could include books, fine motor manipulative or coloring.
